Original period manufacture. Second pattern bayonet with the two piece wood grips. The metal surfaces of the bayonet have been plated at some point, but likely a while back as the surfaces show a freckling of surface corrosion. Typical black leather bodied scabbard with a steel throat and chape. Unit marked on the throat, 182.R.2.178. While sound, the scabbard does not close up to the bottom of the guard completely, there is an 8mm gap between the two.
