Original era manufacture. Stamped brass buckle with the Reichswehr eagle at center and Gott Mit Uns motto. Original sewn black leather adjusting tab which is maker marked and dated 1929; on the reverse it is Navy proofed, the letter M over an anchor.Overall the buckle exhibits normal age and use, with wear to the eagle detail; the leather tab is securely sewn.According to the Treaty of Versailles, the Reichsmarine was limited to only 15,000 personnel, making this unusual buckle a scarce variety.
