Original era manufacture. A service quality bayonet without any issue markings, only the makers name on the ricasso, Weyersburg & Kirschbaum Co. Solingen.Sawback spine as shown, with its original muzzle ring in place; a scarce feature as most of these were modified with having the ring removed. The blade surface is clean, displaying a steel patina finish with evidence of a light service sharpening to the cutting edge. Matching steel patina finish to the guard and pommel. Original finish wooden grips which are secured to the tang by rivets.Black leather bodied scabbard with sound stitching, steel patina finish to the throat and chape. Sound condition brown leather frog with tight stitching, and all four brass rivets in place. A sound example of a scarce, unmodified sawback bayonet. The only example I could find online was a bayonet with issue marks on the spine and pommel...that one priced at over $3,000.
