Original era manufacture. An officers quality helmet, as worn by an enlisted man, One Year Volunteer, prior to WWI. Gilded brass fittings throughout, with an officer quality lining. The surface displays an alligator finish on the front and right side from attic storage, the remainder of the finish is smooth. In my opinion this helmet has never been taken apart or cleaned in a long time. All we did was to wipe of the thick layer of dust which covered the helmet at the time of our purchase. Visors are tightly sewn to the body, nice muted finish to the brass. An honest unmolested Prussian Pickelhaube.
