Original period manufacture. A service quality sword by WKC, with a presentation blade. The double-fullered, polished steel blade measures 36 inches in length, displaying scattered age staining and speckling along its length but no real corrosion issues. The blade runs straight and true, with triple etching, both sides and the spine. on the blade obverse is an etched panel with the following inscription "Manfred Graf Kalnein s/i Eberhard von Batocki".Heavy four branch brass guard and pommel cap, the top of which has an ancestral coat of arms displayed within the pommel cap oval. Thick fishskin wrapped grip, bound with triple strand wire.Steel scabbard with a black painted finish, single suspension loop, with honest age and wear to the painted surface. Most of the paint finish remains, with scattered patches of staining and surface bubbling; no dents to speak of. The scabbard throat is present along with both attaching screws, however the throat has become loose on one side. A massive sword displaying honest service use, evidenced by wear to the tip of the drag, and providing a good basis for further research.
