Original period manufacture. Plain steel quill tip blade measuring 30.5 inches in length with Horster proof marks on both sides of the ricasso. The blade is clean, runs straight and true with evidence of cleaned corrosion along its length. Black leather bumper at the base of the blade. Ornate brass guard which folds on both sides, lion head pommel without glass eyes. Serial numbers and Ostsee property stampings on the small side of the guard. Pale yellow celluloid covered grip bound with triple strand wire. Dent free steel scabbard showing a mix of blue and steel patina finish. Two suspension loops close together up near the throat. While the scabbard fits the blade properly with a cut-out in the throat to accommodate the folding guard it may be a married set.
