Original era manufacture. Standard 98/05 service bayonet made by Mauser with a Crown W 17 on the spine with the Mauser name on the obverse ricasso. Bright and clean, 1920 date appearing on the guard, with the following Police unit markings on the opposite side, S.B.So.I.564. The pommel was post war modified for Police use by having the lock button removed and a large V-shaped notch being cut into the top of the pommel. Sound serrated wood grips. Sound blue steel finished scabbard with a small dent on the obverse. The number 515 is stamped into the top of the scabbard throat. Very nice 1914 dated brown leather frog by Hans Romer Neu-Ulm, with a unit mark pressed into the reverse, BAM 9 30, perhaps representing the city of Bamberg. The scabbard to frog fit is snug but proper, tight enough though that I do not want to stress the leather in trying to see if the reverse of the scabbard throat is unit marked. All in all a very clean Police used bayonet.
