Original period manufacture. A very clean example featuring a 33 inch polished steel blade running straight and true, with etched, frosted panels on each side, displaying sailing ships and other nautical themed emblems. Very ornate cast brass guard, backstrap and lion head pommel, displaying red and green eyes. Both sides of the guard fold, with a lock hole on the reverse side. Ivory color celluloid grip bound with triple strand wire. Unbroken black leather scabbard with gilded brass fittings. The scabbard is very clean, the only minor issue is that the upper fitting securing staple has pulled away from the body, and an ineffectual glue repair has been attempted. The upper fitting will not pull away from the body, but has about half an inch of play.
