Original era manufacture. Brown leather holster with clear unit markings and 1911 date under the flap. The leather flap hinge is a replacement, carefully done with the entire holster being very expertly restitched. Overall the holster is quite sound, never oiled, or crushed with the leather remaining very pliable. During WWI, Infanterie Regiment 94, Grossherzog von Sachsen, 5th Thuringisches (Sachsen-Weimar), served with the 38th Division. It served on the Eastern Front until returning to the west in September 1915, where it remained for the rest of the war. Verdun May 1916, Somme October of the same year. Rated as a Good division in 1917, in 1918 Battle of Lys, again at the Somme, Cambrai. It's 1918 rating was 2nd Class.
