Original period manufacture. First pattern, one piece wooden grip in sound condition. Steel patina guard, pommel and blade finish. Maker marked on the ricasso Simson & Co.Suhl. No issue marks on the blade spine, however the guard is unit marked II.M.D.2731 (Matrose Division).Clean blade with no issues, just some scattered clouding and staining from age. The leather bodied scabbard is sound and fits the blade properly. It shows a different unit marking, but still a Naval issue, W.W.3536 (Naval Dockyard Wilhelshaven). Interesting bayonet on several levels.
