Original era manufacture. Polished steel blade measuring 20.5 inches in length, with a sawback spine. Maker marked on the ricasso, W.K.Cie, Solingen, and on the spine what looks to be a Saxon proof mark, and (19)15 issue date.The blade is clean, evidence of a an old light sharpening on the edge, very slightly rounded point, with no corrosion pitting. Steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, with an operable lock button. The wooden grips are sound, displaying typical dings and dents from service use.Black leather bodied scabbard, with sound stitching and which fits the blade properly. The body has been creased at center but not broken; there are unit markings on the scabbard throat but they are not to a Saxon regiment series.
