Original era manufacture. Standard 98/05 butcher blade service bayonet made by Herder and issued in 1917. Postwar blue finish applied to the very clean blade surface, with 1920 stamped into the guard. Steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, with sound wooden grips.Near dent-free steel scabbard with a cleaned finish, and a WWII 84/98 leather frog fitted over the scabbard body. Being made for a more narrow scabbard the lower stitching on the frog has split on one side.   A very clean blade with most of the original finish remaining intact.
