Original era manufacture. A very clean pattern sword which I have seen referred to as the 1873 Ulan sword. It is marked on the spine Crown W 14. The blade is bright with no corrosion issues, runs straight and true, with much of the original polish remaining visible. There is evidence on the edge of old service sharpening, with some scattered spots of light staining and that's pretty much it for the bad news. Dark steel patina finish to the heavy guard, backstrap and pommel, with a molded composition grip. Fairly dent-free, black painted steel scabbard which is unit marked up next to the throat I M.G. 1. 104. The removable scabbard throat is missing its two securing screws, so if you try to insert the blade into the scabbard with the throat in place it will jam itself up against the bottom of the guard, making itself a real pest to remove from the blade. Otherwise this is a nice honest example of this pattern sword.
