German WWI Camouflage Gasmask Canister

Original era manufacture. A period manufactured German gasmask cannister now exhibiting a rather interesting postwar applied camouflage finish. The surface of the can shows pitting to the metal so a previous owner did a fairly credible job of gildingthe lily by his application of camouflage. It's quite presentable looking now. The lid is a snug fit but I can hear/feel the compartment cover for the spare lenses swinging around inside. All of the strap loops are intact and sound, the closure latch is present, however the little metal strap that holds the hinge in place is missing.
