Original period manufacture. A well used example, all steel construction, and representing one of the more unusual variants of bayonets developed by Imperial Germany during WWI.Traces of the original feldgrau paint remain on the crank-style steel grip, with a simple steel guard with barrel rest, double edged dagger blade with markings on both sides of its ricasso. The blade is of polished steel, displaying staining on both sides, and measuring just under 5.75 inches in length. There are a few shallow nicks in the edges, and the point is rounded. Dent free heavy steel scabbard retaining traces of its original black paint finish, with a 6 mm hole drilled through the tip, perhaps for drainage, or display mounting. Simple brown leather belt loop appears to be an old replacement.
