Original era manufacture. Early wartime production bayonet with "high ears" guard and a leather bodied scabbard. V.C. Schilling Suhl marked blade, with a Crown W 14 stamped in to the spine. The butcher style blade is clean but does show scattered staining and spotting along its length, but no corrosion pitting. The edge appears to have been lightly, and carefully sharpened at some point in its life. Sound wooden grips, with no issues, dark steel patina to the guard and pommel. Original WWI leather frog, in sound condition. Black leather bodied scabbard with steel fittings. The stitching is sound, and the leather has not dried out. This is the correct pattern scabbard for this bayonet, but for some reason the blade will so far, leaving an 8mm gap between the top of the throat and underside of the guard. Such is often the way with these old leather scabbards.
