Original era manufacture. Early wartime production bayonet with "high ears" guard and a leather bodied scabbard. The butcher style blade is bright and clean, showing minor scattered staining and spotting along its length, but no corrosion pitting. The edge appears to have been lightly, and carefully sharpened at some point in its life.Sound wooden grips, with no issues, dark steel patina to the guard and pommel.Original WWI leather frog, in sound condition. Black leather bodied scabbard with steel fittings. The stitching is sound, and the leather has not dried out. This is the correct pattern scabbard for this bayonet. The guard closes to within 3mm of the top of the throat, and it is a bit of a "tug" to draw the blade from the scabbard.
