Original era manufacture. Standard M1895 enlisted helmet with brass fittings, and a reserve cross on the chest of the eagle. The rear visor is very nicely marked with regimental numbers and dated 1904. No extra holes behind the wappen (except for the shrapnel strike), original chinstrap, and original cockades. When viewing the helmet from the front, you can see a shrapnel hole just to the left of the reserve cross, which penetrates the body, nicks the liner, ultimately exiting the helmet just above the national cockade. A hit like this would have inflicted a severe, if not mortal wound to the wearer. Overall the helmet is very sound, displaying honest age and wear. The only minor negative being the original cockades are likely replacements. Original to the era, but ones that were just never used, we have offered many similar sets in the past. Fusilier Regiment Queen Victoria of Sweden, 1st Pomeranian Infantry Nr. 34
