Original period manufacture. Yellow wool piped feldgrau wool shoulder strap with a red wool crown and cypher. The 11th Grenadier Rgt (King Friedrich III), they served in the 11th Division until 1916, transferred to the 101st Division, it served there until May 1918 when it was again transferred, this time to the 117th Division. It was swamped during the opening days of the Meuse-Argonne in September 1918, US 37th Division AEF, US 79th Division AEF, US 80th Division AEF, all report contact with the German 117th Division.
