Original period manufacture. Standard later war pattern German gasmask, leather face with a removable filter element. The gray cotton clothheadstraps are complete, as isoriginal matching materialneck strap.The canister shows original feldgrau paint finish, with minor service denting on its sides and an August 1918 date on the bottom. Inside, the lid compartment holds two sets of extra lenses.The original ersatz cloth shoulder strap is broken, but a good portion of it remains andwas found placed inside the canister with the mask.Now for the fun part, glued to the top of the canister is an original mailing label and postage stamps to a mailing address inUtah. The lettering is faint but perhaps under magnification, or, perhaps a UV light, more details can be discerned.
