Original era manufacture. A large format document measuring 9 x 12 inches awarded May 1916 to a soldier in the 1st Company, 224th Reserve Infantry Regiment. The document is signed by a General-Leutnant, the commander of the 48th Reserve Infantry Division. Beginning in November 1914, the 48th Reserve Division served on the Russian Front, and in the spring of 1915 suffered greatly from desertions by soldiers from Alsace. Magnetic center EK2 maker marked KO on the suspension ring, the frame appears to have been cleaned. Original ribbon.
