German WWI Lockable Medal Case, EK2?

Original era manufacture. A very elaborate hard bodied case with a beveled glass window, gilt crown at top and the dates 1914-1915 at the bottom. The case comes complete with its original key, however it no longer locks securely. I believe this case was intended to house an award or medal, perhaps an EK2, to a soldier who died in the war. Case measures 5.5x3.5x1.5 inches. Scuffing to the leather covering, but quite sound overall.
