Original era manufacture. Brown leather construction with sound stitching and 1918 dated makers marking under the flap. On the holsters reverse, between the belt loops is a royal crown and roman numeral III, I believe this indicates use by the Landes Gendarmerie, which may account for the closure securing strap being moved on the cover.The surface of the leather shows staining and mottling from age and storage, but the body is not crushed or flattened and the leather is very sound. . On the reverse of the holster is a an extrap loop stitched in place on one corner, and another metal loop placed over the left side belt loop. These are likely mounting points for a shoulder strap, an interesting period modification. Spare magazine pouch on the side, and loading tool pouch inside the cover.
