Original era manufacture. The 30 inch curved steel blade is in original polish, and exhibits minor staining from age, zero corrosion issues, and the original leather bumper is up against the base of the guard. The blade spine is marked Crown W 14.Steel guard, pommel and back strap, with a black ribbed composition grip, with no cracks or chips. Stamped into the guard are these letters and numbers, E.A. 84.2.25. According to Jeff Noll's book "The Imperial German Marking System", this translates to Railway Labor Company 84, 2nd platoon, 25th weapon. Blue and steel patina finish to the scabbard, with a unit marking stamped just below the scabbard throat, R.A.M. 23.24 (Reserve Field Artillery Munitions Column). There is some very light denting to the scabbard body, nothing serious, and something to be expected with an artillery sword.
