Original era manufacture. A WWI era M1889 Infantry Officer pattern sword made by WKC, and retailed by the German Army Officers Association. Chrome finish steel blade measuring 30.5 inches in length, running straight and true. Double fullers along its length, with a black painted folding steel guard and pommel cap. Black plastic wrapped grip, bound with triple strand wire, with a Willhelm II cypher on one side. Dent free steel scabbard with most of the original black painted finish remaining intact. The blade is clean, just a few nail-catchers in the edge, and zero corrosion issues. Wrapped around the guard is an original Prussian officers leather sword knot. The scabbard is a little short for the blade, however it is difficult to notice as a black felt buffer has been added to the base of the blade, under the original leather pad. The M1889 German Infantry officers sword is one of the most common examples out there, however, ones with steel guards are not, as these were produced early in WWI with blackened finish for camouflage purposes. A friend of ours purchased this sword from a family whose relative brought it home from WWII. One of the scabbard throat screws is missing.
