German WWI M1916 Helmet Shell, Restoration Project

Original era manufacture. Classic M1916 pattern WWI steel helmet, which saw a number of uses postwar, including being a lampshade. No visible markings in the neckskirt, but measures 9.25 inches across at it's widest point. The exterior shows a gloss black over paint, the interior a dark brown over the original feldgrau. There is some bubbling to the painted surface inside the crown, which I attribute to prolonged exposure to heat from a light bulb. A metal liner band and three original rivets remain in place.
