Original era manufacture. Standard pattern helmet complete with its original liner and brown leather chinstrap. Original feldgrau paint finish to the shell which shows proper age and wear. On the left side of the helmet is a handpainted blue/red shield, the colors of Oldenburg. The shield is rather crudely done, shows age and looks right. We like it, but we understand it is always a leap of faith regarding handpainted insignia. The liner while complete, shows a rather inexpert repair attempt on the front pad using the ill-advised application of scotchtape, another leap of faith. The other two pads are more solidly attached to the leather liner band. The chinstrap is unbroken but a bit stiff so care must be used in handling. Purchased from a local collector whom we have known for well over 20 years who has been downsizing a bit.
