Original era manufacture. An honest to goodness example of a WWI German steel helmet, "souvenired" one day before the Armistice ending WWI.Standard M16 steel helmet with a good deal of the original feldgrau paint finish remaining on the shell. Inscribed by hand into the paint on the right side of the helmet is "ARGONNE FORET, NOV.10. 1918", and on the left side, Lieut. W.L. GLAZIER 59th CAC".Purchased from an old friend of ours, who in turn purchased it out of an old collection in Pennsylvania. As the helmet was only a shell when our Pal purchased it, he spent the extra money and added a first class copy of a German liner, with matching paint finish to the helmet body. The 59th Coastal Artillery went to France in 1918, and served in the Meuse-Argonne offensive. Should be a fun research project.
