Original period manufacture. Classic WWI steel helmet in a size 66 and made by Eisenhuttenwerk Schlesien (Si). Dark patina overall with evidence of an old lacquering and a hand painted gold shield on the right side with a black diagonal stripe. There is some writing on the interior of the skirt, rather faint now and looking as if done with a magic-marker. All three original rivets are in place with a wire hanging loop punched through the front visor.
