Original era manufacture. A nice large grouping of medal, documents, Soldbuch & Militarpass, and assorted photographs, concerning the service of a soldier who served in the 62nd Reserve Artillery (78th Reserve Infantry Division) during WWI. In his particular instance he served throughout the war, from August 1914 to November 1918, earning the Iron Cross 1st & 2nd Class and being awarded the Wound Badge in Black. During WWI, the 78th Reserve Division served on the Russian Front 1915-1916, transferring to the West in April 1917, where it served on the Verdun Front in August of that year. On June 4th, 1918 it entered the Line west of Dammard (Chateau Thierry) and was engaged there until July 20th when it was withdrawn. Likely seeing combat with the AEF during that time. The lot includes the following; Iron Cross 1st Class (WS maker marked) with a rust finish to the core, Iron Cross 2nd Class, Black Wound Badge, Hindenburg Cross with Swords. Documents for the Wound Badge, Iron Cross 1st Class and Hindenburg Cross. Militarpass dated 1913, Soldbuch, WWII era Fuhrerschein with photo and over 40 original photos and real photo postcards detailing his service during WWI.
