Original era manufacture. This well worn original example has likely seen service in the film industry, yet retains it's basic features identifying it as a WWI German tunic. Basic 1910 pattern coat which have had French style cuffs added from another coat, rounded collar piped in blue with NCO lace which looks to be period correct. There are a matched pair of original IR 354 enlisted shoulder straps sewn into the shoulders which have been added to the coat. The buttons which remain are all Bavarian pattern, including the rear belt support buttons, two are missing from the front, and one from the right side lower pocket. Full issue quality coat lining with no visible markings. The buttonholes are oversized from wear but have been nicely repaired to stop the fraying. There are a few scattered moth holes, but overall the issues appear to be that this coat was worn, a lot. While typing up the description it occurred to me that this might have been worn by a Prisoner of War, as there are no property stamps in the lining. At this point all is conjecture, what we can be sure of is the coat's originality, with an intelligent restoration attempt in the recent past. Size about a 40 regular.
