Original era manufacture. German Prisoner of War handmade and decorated mahogany wood box, made while interned at Camp Douglas, Isle of Man in 1915. This exact box is featured in the book, "Trench Art, An Illustrated History" by Jane A. Kimball, in whose collection it once resided. The box can be seen on page 260, figure 7.68 with a nice write up. Measures 8 x 6 3/4 x 4 1/4 inches. There a few missing pieces of the inlay, and some shrinkage has occurred to the wooden sides.
