Original era manufacture. A solid example of a Prussian M1915 enlisted pickelhaube, unit marked to the 23rd or 28th regiment. Both visors are securely sewn to the body, with no extra holes behind the wappen. Matching gray finish to the spike and base, front visor trim, and rear spine, the wappen while original, may be a replacement. Many of these old helmets were given away during War Bond drives in 1918 and 1919, period photographs of pyramids of these old helmets can be seen, some missing their wappens and showing other evidence of neglect. So the addition of a proper fitting wappen to an otherwise original helmet has been a common occurrence since 1918. Original Prussian and national kokardes with a decent modern replacement chinstrap.
