Original era manufacture. Standard M1915 enlisted pickelhaube in gray trim and complete with both national and Prussian kokarden, with an original chinstrap. The removable spike, while original, is likely not the one issued with the helmet 100 years ago as the paint finish is different from the rest of the metal fittings. Could be me nit-picking a little bit, as I am sure the Germans were not to concerned about matching paint back in the day. There are two extra holes behind the wappen, but they are a close fit as they are right above the metal reinforced factory holes. The helmet body is clean, there is a nice shine to the finish, and the front and rear visors are tightly sewn. The rear visor is a little distorted from age and storage. The chinstrap is of brown leather, a bit more thick than usually found, and may be one originally produced for a steel helmet. The leather is slightly stiff from age, and is cinched up tight in the proper position on the front of the helmet. A decent little helmet overall, similar to the one I received as a Christmas present from my father in 1963. That little helm started the ball rolling for me, and, I'm very happy to say, still has pride of place in the War Room.
