Original era manufacture. A rare example of a stamped steel cuirassier helmet with an originalfeldgrau paint finish. Non-removable spike, one piece stamped steel neckguard, feldgrau painted steel wappen which is secured to the body with leather wedges. There is an original brown leather chinstrap, and original brown leather liner, with a leather drawstring. Stamped into the bottom edge of the neckguard is 8.J.P., indicating issue to the 8th Jager zu Pferderegiment. While the helmet is a cuirassier pattern, I remember reading that JzP regiments were also issued these. There are two plain steelkokarden on the helmet, these are devoid of paint, and were on the helmet when we purchased it. The helmet is sound, it shows some scattered areas of minor paint loss, and if you look carefully at the line between thebody of the helmet and neckguard you can see evidence of an old glue repair, not really that noticeable though. This is from our own collection, being sold to fund another recent purchase.
