Original period manufacture. Bright, polished steel 12 inch bayonet blade with no issues beyond normal age and wear. The name Samson Werke can be seen on the obverse ricasso, and on the reverse, faint markings which are not readable.Steel patina finish guard and pommel, with original finish wooden grips secured with two steel rivets. There is a thin crack on the reverse grip, Imperial proof on the pommel and blade spine.The steel scabbard is dent free, and has been aggressively cleaned, displaying evidence of corrosion pitting near the tip.Scarce WWI German service bayonet.
