Original period manufacture. Another interesting example of a WWI era S84/98 bayonet, maker marked Hartkopf, with a crown W 16 proof on the spine, and a very long unit marking on the guard; 813. KP. ILA. MG ABT. 913, with the last digit being stamped upside-down. On the opposite side of guard is the date 1920.The blade is clean, unsharpened, with light age staining but no surface corrosion. Steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, with original finish grips, with one side displaying some significant denting from poor handling.Blue steel finish scabbard, with a post production applied black paint finish which is quite worn. Dent on the front side near the tip.
