Original era manufacture. Standard S84/98 bayonet maker marked Erfurt on the ricasso and crown W 17 on the spine. The blade is clean with a nice luster to the finish, light staining and mottling from age, no pitting. Guard, flashguard and pommel show a cleaned finish with corrosion pitting to the surface. Basically sound wood grips with staining from use. Dent-free steel scabbard with a dark steel patina finish with surface corrosion. Interesting leather & canvas bayonet frog, the canvas portion almost looks to be made from breadbag material, shows typical age and wear.
