Original era manufacture. A clean example of a standard WWI S84/98 bayonet with an unusual makers mark on the ricasso, Eisengiesserei-und Schlossfabrik A.G. Vellbert. The blade is clean with a light steel patina finish and sharp point. Marked on the spine, Crown W 17. Sound wood grips in original finish, with a nice event steel patina to the guard and pommel. Light amount of cleaned corrosion pitting on the bottom side of the guard. The steel scabbard fits properly, but is a different pattern than normally encountered, with a throat screw fitted above the scabbard stud instead of the side.
