Original era manufacture. An early production bayonet with high ears on the guard and no flashgauard on the blade spine. Bright steel blade showing evidence of old cleaned corrosion, very lightly sharpened cutting edge and a sharp point. Nice serrated wood grips, steel patina to guard and pommel, crown W 15 proof on the spine. The steel mounted black leather scabbard is basically sound and closes with the guard with a 2mm gap between. The stitching on the reverse of the spine has opened for the lower two thirds of its length. A solid, pre-war pattern example of this famous WWI bayonet.
