Original era manufacture. Standard butcher pattern bayonet, in this instance made by Waffenfabrik Mauser, Oberndorf. The Mauser made bayonets are unique in that the makers name appears on the reverse of the scabbard throat.Bright finished blade, unsharpened, displaying light staining along its length. Maker marked on the ricasso, and stamped Crown W 17 on the spine.Dark steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, original finish wooden grips, with typical marring and bumping to the surface from service use.Blue steel finish scabbard with throat screw, scattered light surface corrosion, and dented on the side of the scabbard body near the frog stud.
