German WWI S98/05 Bayonet, Sawback Removed, PDL 16

Original era manufacture. Standard pattern 98/05 bayonet which has had it's sawback spine ground away. Maker marked on the reverse ricasso, crown W 16 proofed on the blade spine. The blade is very clean showing light age and wear, no corrosion damage. Sound wood grips with a dark steel patina to the pommel and guard. Clean blue steel scabbard showing a pleasing mix of blue finish and steel patina, light scattered denting, typical for these. Large black leather frog, while showing age is not correct for this bayonet but was on the scabbard when we purchased it.
