Original period manufacture. A clean, bright finished blade, with proofs on both sides of the ricasso, and a Crown W 17 proof on the blade spine. There are scattered spots of darkening to the surface, it is unsharpened with no nicks in the cutting edge.Sound original finish wooden grips, displaying typical marring and bumping from service use, no cracks or chips. Steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, with light denting to the flashguard.Relatively dent-free steel scabbard with a blue finish. At some point in time someone painted a gloss black finish to the scabbard body, and at this point is flaking away. The removal of the paint would be a good thing, as the blue finish beneath looks quite clean.Original black leather frog showing some breakage on the lower edge of the body.
