Original era manufacture. Standard WWI butcher bayonet which has had the sawback spine ground down. This action was reportedly in response to Allied soldiers killing captured Germans armed with this pattern, considering the sawblades to be an atrocity weapon.Very clean, bright finished blade, with an unsharpened cutting edge, makers mark on the ricasso, and Crown W 16 on the spine.Dark steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, with original crown proofs on the pommel. Original finish wooden grips,  displaying typical marring and bumping to the surface from service use.Steel scabbard with throat screw, very light surface denting on both sides, with a steel patina finish.
