Original era  manufacture. A sound example of the classic WWI German 98/05 butcher blade bayonet, made by Fichtel & Sachs, with a double-struck Bavarian proof (L) and 17 date on the spine.The blade is bright and clean with no corrosion issues or blade nicks; just some light scratching to the blade surfaces, and runner wear.Bluet steel patina finish to the guard and pommel with some surface speckling, but no deep pitting. Sound, original finish wooden grips displaying some typical denting and marring from service use and time.Mostly dent free original steel scabbard with a mix of blue and steel patina finish, with the blade fitting the scabbard properly. Three different Police unit markings on the reverse of the scabbard body. Should be a fun research project.
