Original era manufacture. A very sound example of the classic WWI German butcher blade bayonet, S98/05. Made by F. W. Holler and 16 date on the spine. Brought home from WWII by T-3 John P. Rodrigues, Company A, 136th Maintenance Company, 14th Armored Division. The blade is bright and clean with no corrosion issues or blade nicks; just some light scratching to the blade surfaces. Steel patina finish to the guard and pommel with some surface speckling, but no deep pitting. Sound, original finish wooden grips displaying some minor denting and marring from service use and time.Steel patina finish to the scabbard body with some denting to the scabbard body. On the scabbard is a WWII dismounted pattern frog in very clean condition.
