Original era  manufacture. A very clean example of the classic WWI German butcher blade bayonet, S98/05. Made by V.C. Schilling and 18 date on the spine. The blade is bright and clean with no corrosion issues or blade nicks; just some light scratching and scattered staining to the blade surfaces. Steel patina finish to the guard and pommel with some surface speckling, but no deep pitting. Sound, original finish wooden grips displaying some minor denting and marring from service use and time.Original steel scabbard with a steel patina finish, light denting on one side, with the blade fitting the scabbard properly.
