Original era manufacture. A clean example of this classic WWI German bayonet made by Simson & Co of Suhl, dated Crown W 15 on the spine. Sound wood grips showing light age and wear. Came with an early pattern scabbard in generally sound condition, proper length for the blade but there is an obstruction in the scabbard keeping the blade from a proper fit. There is about a 1/2 inch gap when fully inserted. The two steel staples on the chape show damage, one is nearly gone and the reverse staple is broken. Might be a blessing in disguise as they could be removed and the obstruction figured out. Clean bayonet overall. Purchased from the son of a US WWII 3rd Army Vet who brought it home.
