Original era manufacture. Standard WWI butcher blade bayonet which displays the Herder name on the reverse ricasso and an elaborate Durkopp logo on it's obverse. The blade is clean, crown W 17 proofed on it's spine, touch of sharpening at it's tip with a single nick in the edge. Steel patina to the guard and pommel, lock button works as it should, has a serial number of 537 on the reverse side of the guard. Blue steel finished scabbard which is relatively dent free, shows some light, scattered surface corrosion, with a touch of heavier corrosion on the frog stud. The internal retention spings have weakened over time so the blade is loose in the scabbard.
