Original period, RPC. Sanke of Berlin, clear bw image of Leutnant Heinrich Gontermann wearing his Pour le Merite, EK1 and Pilot Badge. He was credited with 39 kills during WWI, and was himself killed, while testing the DR-1 aircraft in October of 1917.The reverse has a collector mounted additional image of Gontermann in flying gear, along with a newspaper obituary in German.
